My patio garden

What is better than being out doors and gardening?

You can take the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the girl. I love to garden but unfortunately I am limited in space and time. However, I was able to plant some herbs that have done well on my back patio in the past. I had a blast playing with my son and even teaching him while we worked. It’s amazing how much a child can learn through watching.

As I was placing the plants into the dirt, he would come over and place his hands on the plant and push it to the ground. There were a few times I feared for the plants life but in the end it’s a plant and him learning in a positive environment means more to me than getting upset. Although he mainly loved playing in the dirt and collecting snail shells. He is a PRO at playing in the dirt by the way. He probably could teach me a few things by taking the time to just play.

Anyway, I have tried planting tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce but they haven’t done well for me in pots. I know why they don’t do well but still I like to try. This year i decided to plant an all herb garden. I use herbs in a lot of recipes so I plan on using fresh herbs throughout the summer and then drying some for the winter. Plus I like seeing plants on my patio. They look great next to the chairs I found next to the garbage bin too. Don’t worry they were next to the garbage bin and I washed them throughly. And I’m not encouraging dumpster diving either!

  • Dill
  • Basil
  • Mint
  • Cilantro
  • Lavender
  • Chives
  • Rosemary

I decided to plant dill this year. I have never planted dill before so it will be a learning curve. I try to learn as much as I can about the plant before planting it but I decided to plant first and educate myself later. The only thing I know about dill is that it can be invasive.

I also am taking another wack at lavender. I had a beautiful lavender plant last year, but because I was sick, I let my garden go so it died.

I love planting basil and mint!! I always get a huge yield whenever I plant them. I plan on propagating my basil and mint when they grow a bit bigger. Once I found out how to cut and trim my mint and basil they thrived. It pays off learning how to take care of your plant babies.

If anyone has any tips on gardening let me know as I am always willing to learn something new. I also decided to make my garden video our first YouTube video. Just like everything we do we have to have patience and grow. I would love it if you check out channel out! Don’t know where to find it click on our YT icon below of look for: Flowers on the Dashboard. Thanks y’all! Ps the chair cushions are from an old couch my husband broke down. Just letting you know just in case y’all wanted to buy those beautiful babies. Haha 😂 They work for the time being.
