Tending What You Have

Imagine you planted a seed in the middle of a farmers field. To and from where that seed was planted it was a 10 minute walk each way. You start out with determination and hope to see it blossom but after a week of going out, and carrying the bucket of water that for that walk seemed long and not worth it. You abandoned the seed and it perished.

Someone later gives you a seed and you decide to plant a seed in a pot next to your home where you can get up and quickly nurture it. You even take pride in the plant and watch it grow. Day after day you get up, nurture it, and eventually you see a sprout of green. It grows and grows and bears fruit. Fruit so big you can share with those around you.

Take pride in where you are right now and the free gift of life God has given you. Sometimes in life the things we want are right there in front of us but we just don’t realize it until it’s to late. If we do not focus on the things that are in front of us they will perish when we long after someone else’s success or wish we were at the end goal. Don’t cut off your sprout for someone else’s and enjoy the time till you reach your goal. Allow God to move and make things grow. Your yield of fruit isn’t what matters though it’s the process, time and journey that gets you to that place. The fruit at the end is just an extra bonus.

Enjoy the people that God has given you. Don’t be ashamed of the small place God has you. For in the small places comes great things.
